Concept artist and art director with 9+ years experience in the industry.
I worked as a concept artist on Transformers: Cyberverse.
I worked in tandem with the concept art team to create prop designs for an animated TV show.
I worked as part of a team to produce graphics, illustrations, and other marketing materials for Triple-A and Indie games.
I loved my time at university. It gave me the time and support I needed to develop specialist skills as a concept artist and illustrator.
I spent the last year of my degree directing a graduate film with Patti Roberts; I became proficient in After Effects, Maya and Photoshop. We directed a core team of about 6 people, with a fair number of part-timers helping us out during the course of production. There were a lot of challenges and a lot of late nights, and we're immensely proud of what we achieved. I'll be putting up a link to the film soon.
During my time at Mikrofilm I produced storyboards, backgrounds, concept art and 2D animation for multiple projects.
It was a wonderful experience that gave me a valuable insight into how an academy-award winning studio operates. I also learned that Norwegians are really friendly people.
I spent two months at Pinewood Studios training as a film draughtsman; I learned how to produce professional grade architectural drawings for film sets. Although I decided not to pursue work as a draughtsman the experience taught me the value of precision and planning in my drawing.
It was pretty cool working in Pinewood Studios too.
This was my first job as a freelance artist. I produced storyboard panels for several scenes - Ray Burdis was a really cool dude to work with. The movie was released in 2015 as 'Angel'.
This was my first job on a feature film. The hours were long and the work was arduous; but it was also a tremendously exciting experience for me at the time. I was welcomed as part of the crew - the art department on that film, headed by Matt Button, were especially friendly.
I was so excited by the prospect of working on a feature film that I stayed late in the evenings to help out the art department. Sometimes I would watch them film night scenes. I impressed Matt Button with my work ethic, and he was generous enough to recommend me for a storyboard artist job on another feature film.
While at Resource Productions I filmed and edited various documentaries and promotional videos for a variety of clients. I also taught workshops in how to use film equipment and manage a production schedule. Resource Productions was a great experience; it helped me develop a wide array of transferable skills.
It also gave me my first experience with Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.
